My History

After 15 years working in the chemical industry as a Research Chemist and Project Manager, I decided that my interests and passion lay elsewhere.  I embarked on a new direction that would change my life.  I now work as a counsellor for a local hospice, for a cancer treatment centre and also run my private practice in Frodsham, Cheshire.  My varied career history gives me unique experience and helps me to understand and connect with clients from a wide range of backgrounds.

Experience

I am a counsellor at a local cancer care centre, providing counselling to patients and relatives.  The patients are dealing with a variety of issues for example living with a terminal diagnosis, dealing with the effects of cancer treatment, anxiety and depression, returning to work or daily life following treatment.  I work with relatives who may be facing bereavement or having trouble communicating with their loved one.

I also work at a local hospice where I provide counselling to relatives who are bereaved.

I have experience of working with carers and appreciate the difficulties experienced by people who are looking after those who are older, disabled or seriously ill.  These might include anxiety and depression, isolation, relationship difficulties, poor health and trouble juggling other commitments.
